KAYAMBA AFRICA is a vocal based traditional and ethnic inclined six-member music group that strives to create a balance between traditional Africa music. Their rhythm is mainly Kenyan with a mixture of danceable beats to create a fusion combination called “Neo-traditional” music. With a heavy leaning towards acappella, the group’s unique and versatile combination has won them great admiration from audiences around Kenya and Africa.

JUMA ODEMBA
Born 1966 to Peres Sadia and Chrispo Odemba at Lady Greek Hospital (Now Coast General Hospital) Mombasa, on a Friday 7th of January. The Seventh born in a family of 10. 5 Girls and 5 Boys. The family then moved to Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda border as my father was customs officer.

KAYAMBA AFRICA was one of the first Kenya groups to submit their video entry to the 2002 KORA all Africa Music Awards. Fortunately enough they were nominated for a KORA Award in the Best Traditional Category. Even though they did not win a LORA Award in 2002, they proved that their music has what it takes to get categorized with the best of the continent. We have produced a couple of videos and two CD ’s.
